...from an artist that is considered a one-hit-wonder, but NOT the hit that they are known for. (Keep it to one thread, though.)
I feel like this song would have been a huge hit if Gregg Alexander hadn’t imploded the band like he did, right in the middle of them just becoming popular. I really like this whole album, even if most of it does sound a tad over-produced.

I mean, really, their entire discography until Page left the band.

Does it count if one of his most popular songs is due to being covered by a bigger act?

There are many, many Falco songs on my iPod.
I remember seeing this on MTV quite a bit when I was younger, even when the After the Fire version came out. Have you ever heard the weird Laura Branigan version of it? It’s called “Deep in the Dark”, and it’s not exactly the same song, but it uses most of the elements of it. I love Laura Branigan, but this song is AWFUL.

Big fan, though I don’t really think they’re a one-hit wonder.
My partner’s old Suzuki SX4 had the WORST iPod interface ever. It would only let you play songs in alphabetical order; no shuffling, no playlists, nothing. If I drove and connected my iPod to it, ‘A’ would be the first song it played.

You know, you’re probably onto something. It just seems like One Week was so much more popular than their other music (especially outside of Canada) that it kinda seems that way. Looking back, they did have a few other hits that weren’t just hits in Canada, It’s All Been Done and Pinch Me spring immediately to mind.

I’d never heard of him before. Pretty good, though. Made me want to eat BBQ for some reason.

One of the stations here used to play “If I had $1000000" pretty regularly a couple years before they broke through in the US, and it lead me to buy ‘Rock Spectacle’ and ‘Born on a Pirate Ship’. I liked both and ended up getting some of their older stuff too.

That song always makes me laugh, they just sounded like they were having fun. “I’d buy you a green dress, but not a real green dress that’s cruel”

The Raconteurs “Level”? Are they considered a one hit wonder?

I have no idea what constitutes a hit so I’ll just post A song I love.

This sounds like every record that has ever been playing every time I’ve been in a record store.

Same can be said about nearly everything.

It’s very calming. I don’t go to record stores nearly enough.

I’ve literally bought four records in a store.

It’s a stretch but I guess this song could fit the question. But the title of this post reminded me of it and it’s my favorite song/video.

I’ve found a lot of random music that I never would have come across otherwise by crawling through record stores, but then again I’m old.
My favorite is Bran Van 3000, a Canadian band. I came across them when their single “Drinking In L.A.” was being played a lot by a local alternative station KTCL. I ended up buying that album (“Glee”), which is still one of my favorite albums. I didn’t think much about them until I went on vacation with a friend to Vancouver and found ‘Discosis’, their second album. This was before I’d had any Internet experience so I had no idea they’d put out another album. It’s not bad, I recommend checking it out.

I’m not sure Trio were a one-hit wonder, but this isn’t the song they’re most known for in the U.S.
